VOTER ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible to vote in this election, you MUST be a current SAME AND San Antonio Post member as shown on the current membership roster available at the Post website.

VOTING PROCEDURES:

In the ballot, you will be asked to select the candidate of your choice for each of the five (5) available positions. You can also choose to identify WRITE-IN candidate(s) for position(s). If you do so, select "WRITE-IN" for the position in the drop-down menu, then enter the name of the individual in the box where it says WRITE-IN candidate for that position.

Please be sure when entering any WRITE-IN candidate(s) that they are: (1) members of the Post; (2) interested in serving in the position; (3) and have the time to serve in the position.

The next section provides you with a summary of this year's candidates - scroll down the page to learn more about each of them.

CANDIDATES:

For 2015 Vice President/2016 President-elect: This is a 2-year position. The individual elected to this position will first serve as Vice President under the previously elected 2015 President then assumes the role of Post President for 2016:

  • HoltSteven Holt is a Alfaro Consulting senior project manager for large infrastructure construction projects for a local large insurance company. He is currently our Post Director of Professional Development, has been our Post Assistant Treasurer and served on the Post Holiday Celebration, Small Business Conference, Scholarship and SAME Camp Student Selection Committees. He has been a SAME member since 2002

  • wasmusRyan Wasmus (Cherokee Nation Businesses) is the Vice President for Business Development responsible for developing, leading, and executing growth and sustainability strategies for his company’s technology portfolio for his company. Ryan held multiple Post Board Positions including Young Member Director, Individual Membership Director and Outreach and Communication Director. He also has served on the SAME Small Business Council as Chairperson for Conferences and Outreach and as liaison to SAME International Committee. He has been a SAME member since 2004.

For 2015 Treasurer: This is a 1-year position (elected/re-elected each year). This individual is the Chief Financial Officer of the Post who is overall responsible for all financial matters and accounts:

  • hutchinsSam Hutchins (City of San Antonio Transportation and Capital Improvements Department) is a senior engineer who manages the project management software and project scheduling functions for the City of San Antonio. Sam has been our Post Assistant Treasurer or Treasurer since 2002 and also supports many of the Post committees including the Golf Committee. He has been a SAME member since 1990 and was inducted in SAME’s Academy of Fellows in 2009.


For 2015 Secretary: This is also a 1-year position (elected/re-elected each year). This individual is overall responsible for all administrative matters related to Post operations:

  • MasbadMarie Masbad (FPM Remediations, Inc.) supports business development, helps oversee the progress of all proposals, and provides adminstrative assistance for her company. In addition, she contributes to the production of her company's marketing materials and promotional products. Marie is a member of the Post Small Business Committee and serves as graphics coordinator for its annual conference and also serves on the Post Golf and Holiday Celebration Committees. Marie has been a SAME young member since 2012 and is currently also a participant in the Post's 2014 Leadership Lab Program.


  • medinaEdward Medina (502 CES, JBSA-Ft Sam Houston) manages the coordination and accomplishment of plans, scope, design, construction, budget and direction of assigned engineering and construction projects for JBSA. Edward has served as the Post Assistant Secretary and Secretary since 2013. He has been SAME iyoung member since 2013 and is currently also a participant in the Post's 2014 Leadership Lab Program.

For 2015-2016 Director of Education Programs (EP): This is a 2-year position. There are 4 elected Directors (two are elected/re-elected every year) responsible for the 4 major Post program areas: Education Programs, Professional Development, Leadership & Mentoring, and Relationships & Recognition. The EP Director is responsible for: (1) planning/executing our Post meeting presentations; (2) managing Post activities to meet the Society's Strategic Plan Education & Training (E&T) goal and the related goals in the Post Strategic Plan; and (3) managing Post activities to meet the E&T Streamer requirements for the annual Post submittal:

  • DeMartinoDavid DeMartino (OTIE) is a recently retired USAF Colonel who served in numerous civil engineering senior leadership positions and now has joined the OTIE staff here in San Antonio. His most recent past positions include AFCEC Director and HQ AETC Civil Engineer. David served as our Post Vice President and has been a previous Post President, Regional Vice President Secretary and Post Programs Chairperson. David has been a SAME member since 1990.


  • galvezElda Galvez (RS&H, Inc.) is an architect with her company's Aerospace and Defense Program. Elda is responsible for identifying the owner's short and long-term requirements and goals, evaluating and surveying existing facilities conditions, analyzing and evaluating projects so they comply with all regulations so they protect the public's health, safety and welfare. She has10 years of related project experience. Elda is also an AIA member and served on the AIA Associates Committee, which coordinated all architect interns monthly course training. Elda has been a SAME young member since 2013.


For 2015-2016 Director of Professional Development (PD): This is another 2-year Director’s position. The individual in this position needs to registered/licensed. The PD Director is responsible for: (1) planning/executing Post PD and Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) programs/activities; (2) assisting members in obtaining/maintaining professional licenses/certifications consistent with the SAME Guide to CPC; (3) conducting PD activities such as the Post PD Scholarship, Professional Ethics Traiing, and Post PDH/CEU Awards programs; and (4) assisting the Post EP Director to meet the E&T Streamer requirements for the annual Post submittal:

  • cashCindy Cash (Stell Environmental Enterprises) is the senior project manager and senior technical lead for hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste projects from site investigation through remediation for her company and also serves as the Corporate Quality Control Manager. She is currently active both in our Post and the Fort Worth Post. Cindy lead our Post Edwards Aquifer Field Trip. She also served as the Co-Chairperson for the National K-12 Committee and the local Chapter's Student Liaison of the Association of Engineering Geologists. Cindy is a registered professional geologist in three states. She has been a SAME member since 2005.


  • thompsonWoody Thompson (RS&H, Inc) is the Regional Group Leader and Project Manager for Commissioning, LEED and Energy projects for his company. Woody has 22 years of experience in the construction industry; 11 years with an AABC-certified Test and Balance firm and 11 years in project management, mechanical design, building commissioning, LEED administration and energy auidts. He is registered professional engineer, has numerous commissioning registrations, and is CEM, REP and LEED AP certified. Woody is a current SAME Continuing Education Program Instructor and has served the ASHRAE Alamo Chapter as Treasurer. Woody has been a SAME member since 2012.
